Common examples of electro-sensitive materials for drug delivery include polypyrrole (PPy, Prod. No. 577030), ferrocene, and carbon nanotubes. Spurred by recent progress in materials chemistry and drug delivery, stimuli-responsive devices that deliver a drug in spatial-, temporal- and dosage-controlled fashions have become possible. Stimuli-responsive drug-delivery nanocarriers (DDNs) have been increasingly reported in the literature as an alternative for breast cancer therapy. Intrinsic stimuli‐responsive nanocarriers have gained significant interest in the antibacterial research field. In this review, we discuss the potential of these nanocarriers for improved antibacterial drug delivery and highlight further research required to optimize their potential. Stimuli responsive drug delivery systems have emerged as one of the most innovative classes of polymer materials of modern materials science.

Stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems (DDS) appear as a promising approach to control and target drug delivery. When these DDS are administered, the drug release is activated and then modulated through some action or external input and facilitated by the energy supplied externally. The stimuli-responsive nanocarriers for drug delivery to tumors towards precision imaging, effective therapy and theranostics. The nanocarriers could accumulate and penetrate tumors, and target cancer cells for achieving different applications and functions by responding to the external and internal stimuli. Stimuli-responsive liposomes for drug delivery The ultimate goal of drug delivery is to increase the bioavailability and reduce the toxic side effects of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) by releasing them at a specific site of action. Biological stimuli responsive drug carriers based on keratin for triggerable drug delivery 2013-10-23 · Spurred by recent progress in materials chemistry and drug delivery, stimuli-responsive devices that deliver a drug in spatial-, temporal- and dosage-controlled fashions have become possible. Interest in stimuli-responsive polymers is steadily gaining increasing momentum especially in the fields of controlled and self-regulated drug delivery.

For this purpose, nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems offer tremendous and promising advantages in the prevention, diagnosis 2019-06-14 c) Thermoresponsive drug delivery system: The use of temperature as a signal has been justified by the fact that the body temperature often deviates from the physiological temperature (37°C) in the presence of pathogens or pyrogens. This deviation is a useful stimulus that activates the release of therapeutic agents from various temperature-responsive drug delivery systems for diseases delivery systems activated by external remote triggers are also discussed.

Once a stimuli-responsive drug delivery system is subtly designed, loading the drug in the carrier could ideally achieve the on-demand release of the drug according to different environment of the disease/physiology or the dynamic process of the organism itself.
